At Riverstone we believe that everyone come to yoga for different reason and thus we offer many different types of yoga. We honor everyBODY and respect that every body and day is different. We support you on your journey towards consistency of practice and classes are non-competitive, except as personally useful for healthy self discovery and motivation. We are your neighbors and friends and believe life is better local with connections to community.

Riverstone Yoga now offers virtual offerings, we can also come to your home, office or organization. We are specialize in custom wellness offerings designed to achieve your mental and physical health desires.

Do I need a group?

No, we offer both private and group events.

What about workshops and special events?

Riverstone is a gathering place of learning and our team works to bring new and innovative guest speakers, educator and practitioners to Riverstone each month. Our goal is to offer both individuals and whole family ongoing learning and educational opportunities. Our wide variety of classes, workshops and special events are carefully designed to enhance, encourage, challenge and delight you on your journey to wholistic health and wellbeing.

What are the benefits of a yoga practice?

The physical benefits of yoga are many. Yoga increases strength, flexibility and vitality; all systems of the body benefit from increased function. The more subtle benefits to yoga are relaxation and self-awareness. Through your yoga practice you will develop the ability to handle stress and have clearer, calmer more positive thoughts.

What should I bring with me to a yoga class?
A.

We have everything you will need for your first yoga class available to rent. We provide all props for class and have mats & towels available for rent. Should you chose to maintain a consistent practice we encourage you to obtain your own mat. Our yoga shop sells everything you could need for your practice.

Which yoga classes are appropriate for beginners?
A.

Check our class descriptions that will indicate which classes are appropriate for beginning students to decide which class is best suited to you. Any of our staff members are happy to help you decide the right fit for you, you can inquire in studio or contact us for more information.

What should I wear to a yoga class?
A.

You should wear comfortable and non-restrictive clothing; anything you would wear to a typical exercise class. We work with bare feet in yoga so be prepared to shed your socks and shoes.

Can I practice yoga if I have physical issues?
A.

Yoga is for everybody! Yoga can be very therapeutic for the body, mind and spirit while facing a physical discomfort in the body. Always inform your instructor of any issues you may be experiencing.
For example: back, neck, shoulder or knee pain, blood pressure issues or pregnancy. We offer a wide range of classes for all body types.

How many times a week should I attend yoga class?
A.

We generally recommend attending classes at least 2-3 times a week. However, every student has individual limits and we emphasize that you should never allow unrealistic expectations to cloud your practice. The benefits of just a single class per week is worth your time and energy. You can always start small and work up to a more frequent practice.

I am not flexible, is yoga for me?
A.

We hear this statement all of the time. We come to yoga to become more flexible in the body and mind. Individuals with stiff bodies will benefit from yoga by gaining increased mobility in the joints and muscles. A naturally flexible person will benefit from yoga by gaining strength. Yoga is not about being or getting flexible, it is about bringing balance to your body. We have many class tailored for increasing your mobility in accessible and friendly environment. Do men do yoga?
A.

Absolutely yes! Our classes are open & welcoming spaces to everybody. Believe it or not, the yoga tradition has actually evolved to include women relatively recently in its long history. The original teachers and gurus were exclusively male!

CLASS ETIQUETTE

Arrive about 10-15 minutes before class when possible.
Remove your shoes.
Don't skip Savasana.
Turn off all cell phones.
Please remove your shoes before entering our class space.
Try to avoid walking on other students mats.
Put your props away after class.
Practice cleanliness.
