Kids Yoga - Petite Pebbles & Pebbles

Petite Pebbles & Pebbles

FALL 2014 (6 wk sessions) SESSION A: 9/22 – 10/30 SESSION B: 11/4 – 12/18 Our children, like little pebbles floating in a stream small and adorable, will move about and eventually ground themselves in our children’s yoga class designed for 2 ½ to 8 year olds. While they may be small, children experience stress and anxiety just like adults, however don’t often have constructive mechanisms or skills to cope with the stress. Practicing yoga offers your child “yoga tools” to better understand how to recognize and handle various challenges he/she face physically, mentally and socially both on and off the mat. Benefits of yoga for children: • Will help develop a stronger, more flexible body • Increases balance, body awareness and coordination • Improves posture and alignment • Calms and clears the mind in order to practice presence • Relieves tension and stress • Improves ability to self-regulate and make more mindful choices of thoughts, words and actions • Builds self-confidence and self-esteem • Supports character development and emotional intelligence • Inspires respect for self and others Your child will learn easy animal and earth kids yoga poses through unique, creative and FUN games and age-appropriate play, with an emphasis on mindfulness through practicing presence. This class will strengthen their bodies and teach your child to have an increased mind-body awareness, especially in relation to others. Additionally, your child will also learn simple breathing and calming techniques, which will better equip him/her with peaceful coping mechanisms for everyday life. Most of all, your child will not even realize the incredible benefits of yoga, but will simply have Fun learning!

Nearly Tweens - These classes give your child the opportunity to learn more challenging and creative poses, while maintaining a playful, fun class experience through games, props and songs. Classes focus on building self-confidence, physical strength and concentration. Partner poses, basic inversions and beginning arm balances are explored, and poses are held for longer amounts of time with a basic introduction to alignment. Children are encouraged to freely express their individuality while learning the basic yoga principles of respect for others and themselves.
